We are a strong focal point of the community. We are a small rural museum that is full of history. We offer a historical story of Chappell Hill full of the beginnings up to the Civil War and in to present day. We provide historical tours, educational programs, detailed exhibit rooms of the life and different eras including transportation, cultural, community organizations, Wars, the Polish community, and an original era classroom. We are in the processing of putting together an outdoor exhibit that will include a wagon, Studebaker and a blacksmith cabin. The museum is housed in the last public school building of the Chappell Hill I.S.D. The red brick structure is located on the former site of the earlier Chappell Hill Female College. Three consecutive buildings served as classrooms for the Female College from 1860-1912. The present building was erected in 1927 and served as only one of the rural schools in the area until 1965. The original Female College bell still sits on the property today for museum visitors to see. The museum currently has the largest collection of paintings by Folk Artist, Johnnie Swearingen.
