BRAZOS VALLEY GIVES

Museum of the American G.I.

About this Organization

The Museum of the American G.I. (MAGI) has an incredible display of historic U.S. military vehicles, uniforms, small arms, WWI/WWII propaganda posters, memorabilia, and artifacts. Some of these items are so rare that they can only be seen at the Museum or "national" specialty museums. For example, on display at MAGI is an original door from the Hoa Lo or Hanoi Hilton Prison, which housed American POWs during the Vietnam War. There is no place other than the Hoa Lo Prison Museum in Vietnam to see this historical artifact!

The Museum believes that our country's history is rich and diverse and should be honored and preserved for future generations. We bring "history alive" with educational activities for the public while honoring those who have served this country in the U.S. military.

MAGI has one of the finest collections in the U.S. of restored, running WWI, WWII, and later-era military vehicles such as WWI French Renault tank, WWII Sherman tanks, M18 Hellcats, and Vietnam-era Patrol boat. MAGI is home to several extremely rare vehicles: WWII M9 Howitzer Motor Gun Carriage, WWII M3 Gun Motor Carriage, and Vietnam-era Ontos. Each of these vehicles is one of less than three (10 in the case of the F.T.) restored, functioning worldwide!

The ability to exhibit the vehicles and weapons in action is what makes MAGI fantastically unique. The museum hosts "History in Motion" in the fall and "Living History Weekend" in the spring for the public to experience the rumble of tanks and whine of engines and observe everything from small arms fire up to the blasts of tank and artillery cannons.

The Museum of the American G.I. is home to the Texas Vietnam Heroes exhibit, which honors the 3,417 Texans killed or missing in action during the Vietnam War. Every Memorial Day weekend, the Museum Remembers the Fallen from the Brazos Valley, Texas A&M, and the nation with displays, Remembrance crosses, and a 21-gun Howitzer salute.

All of this makes the Museum of the American G.I. an ideal location for family and educational school field trips.

We need your help to upgrade our technology so we may create new displays and activities to honor our veterans and educate the public about their service and sacrifices.

When you donate through Brazos Valley Gives, you will help us do that! Just remember - Every donation, no matter the amount, matters greatly! Whether big or small, each amount supports the greater picture!

There are no geographical boundaries when you are giving to honor our veterans!

The Museum of the American G.I. has been built on and is run solely on donations. Thank you for making the Museum what it is today!
